Southwest Airlines is the newest airline company to be under fire after a woman passenger was dragged off the plane against her will. The unidentified woman on the Los Angeles bound fight was dragged from her seat after asking for two dogs to be removed from the cabin. One of the dogs was an emotional support animal, and the other dog was a pet flying with its owner. The woman’s severe allergy to dogs was reported to be life-threatening, but the crew refused to deplane the dogs on board.
Southwest Airlines has a policy stating that a passenger can be removed if they do not have the proper medical certificate stating their condition is true and relevant. The woman asked for an injection to relieve her allergy symptoms, but the injection could not be administered without the medical certificate in hand.
She was given the option to deplane and receive the injection out of the terminal, but the woman refused to get off the plane. Local law enforcement came on board the plane and asked the woman to leave. It was reported that this measure was for her safety during the flight. However, the woman refused to leave her seat, stating that her father had a surgery in Los Angeles that she needed to get to.
Local law enforcement grabbed the woman by the arms and walked her down the aisle. Multiple passengers filmed the occurrence of the woman being dragged off the plane against her will. She can be seen screaming in the video frantically telling officers that they ripped her pants and she’s trying to walk off.
Southwest Airlines released a statement saying, “We are disheartened by the way this situation unfolded and the Customer’s removal by local law enforcement officers. We publicly offer our apologies to this Customer for her experience and we will be contacting her directly to address her concerns. Southwest Airlines was built on Customer Service, and it is always our goal for all Customers to have a positive experience.”
